artgram is a free multimedia application available on the iPhone that allows you to create beautiful and unexpected images using experimental imaging techniques. With this app, you can explore techniques like slit-scan, strip photography, down-sampling, and shadowing, and capture reality in unusual and mesmerizing ways. The app boasts a simple UI that lets you change the most important parameters for each technique in real-time.
For strip photography, you can change the sampling frequency of each strip taken and the speed for image creation. Slit-scan, on the other hand, captures each line, vertical or horizontal, at different consecutive times, and the slider in artgram changes the speed of every slit taken. Downsampling reduces the information in the image by decomposing the image into different blocks and selecting half of them or computing the average color for each block. The size of the blocks can be changed using the slider. Lastly, shadowing creates images that are a blend of every single frame that has been recorded, and the slider allows you to change the speed of decay.
